Our Aim
As a standing committee of the ABCUSA Board of General Ministries, we come alongside American Baptists by:
- informing a wider understanding of Christian unity.
- fostering ecumenical and interfaith conversation.
- exploring and supporting ecumenical and interfaith engagement and collaboration.
- supporting American Baptist membership in and representation to ecumenical and interfaith bodies.
Christian Unity
Activities
Luke Mowbray Ecumenical Award | A recognition to a member of an American Baptist church who has made an outstanding contribution in ecumenical work at the local, state, national, or international level as either a volunteer or paid professional. Learn more here.
Resources we recommend:
- Annual World Day of Prayer: a worldwide movement of Christian women of many traditions who come together to observe a common day of prayer each year, and who, in many countries, have a continuing relationship with prayer and service.
- Joint Action and Advocacy for Justice and Peace: the National Council of Churches of Christ continues to advocate with those who seek justice through the Joint Action and Advocacy for Justice and Peace Convening Table.
Interfaith Relations
Activities
Baptist-Muslim Dialogue | creating an atmosphere where these two faith communities can live in peace and respect with one another and promote the common good in the society in which we live and in the broader.

Partners and Opportunities to Get Involved
ABCUSA partners with many ecumenical and interfaith ministries and organizations. American Baptists may consider opportunities to represent ABCUSA on partner governing boards, committees, and commissions and participate in collaborative ministries and initiatives.
