Final Day of ABCUSA’s Online 2021 Biennial Mission Summit—Imagine

The American Baptist Churches USA Biennial Mission Summit 2021 — An Online Experience wraps up today, June 26, with another full day of connecting, learning, reflecting, and worshiping with the American Baptist family.

Rev. Dr. Winterbourne Harrison-Jones

The second day of the online denominational gathering included an MMBB Member Address, a selection of afternoon workshops, the Business Session, and a Highlighting International Ministries event. Evening worship service included both musical and visual art offerings, prayers of the people, and a reading from Jeremiah 8:18-22, which provided the reference for the theme Imagine Healing. The Rev. Dr. Winterbourne Harrison-Jones also read from Revelation 21:1-8 and preached on “I Dream A World: Courage and the Prophetic Imagination,” calling American Baptists to live into our gifts fully and courageously, to imagine and walk together as we build a world that stands on and follows the life examples of Jesus of the Gospels. Following service, participants were invited to experienced healing through humor with the Rev. Susan Sparks who presented Laugh Your Way to Grace. The over 30+ exhibitors continued to offer workshops, dialogues, connection sessions, and fun activities as listed in the Detailed Schedule.

The Final Day of the Live Online Gathering

Today’s final line up of main event sessions offer more opportunities for attendees to interact with each other. Another set of Workshop Sessions will be offered at 4:00 p.m. EDT. These will include sessions hosted by International Ministries, American Baptist Women’s Ministries, and executive and associate regional ministers.  Following the workshops, participants are invited to add their voices to the Mission Summit Conversations at 5:00 p.m. EDT. This year there are three topics for participants to choose from: Anti-Racism, Congregational Life, or Unity. The day of events will end with evening worship Imagine—Hope led by the youth of the denomination with speaker Rev. Dr. Brianna Parker, a litany of thanksgiving, and an announcement about the 2023 Biennial Mission Summit.
