2021 ABCUSA Biennial Mission Summit Officially Begins

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 6/24/21)—The American Baptist Churches USA Biennial Mission Summit 2021 — An Online Experience officially begins today, June 24, with the conference theme Imagine.

Today is full of online experiences and opportunities for attendees to connect, learn, reflect, and worship with the American Baptist family.

The Welcome Session at 4 p.m. EDT is a live session that will officially kick off the weekend with information about what to expect from this first-ever denomination-wide online Biennial Mission Summit: elements both familiar and transformed, tips on how to navigate the event platform, and a live question and answer period.

Following the Welcome Session, participants are invited to attend Caucus Sessions beginning at 5:00 p.m. EDT. American Baptist caucuses meeting at this time include the Alliance of Asian American Baptist Churches, the American Baptist Hispanic Caucus, the American Baptist Women’s Caucus, the National American Baptist Churches Portuguese-Speaking Caucus, and the National Black Caucus of American Baptist Churches USA.

The Opening Worship Service will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT. This worship service will focus on imagining unity and celebrating our coming together as an American Baptist family. The service will include music from across the denomination, a reading of Galatians 3:26-29, prayers, words from our leaders of the National Executive Council, and a celebration of the Lord’s Supper.

In addition to these and other main sessions, attendees have over 100 activities and meetings to choose from, offered through the more than 30 Exhibitor Booths, which are listed on the Detailed Schedule.

Starting Monday, June 21, hundreds of event registrants began to take advantage of the early opening of the Virtual Attendee Hub and have already begun to enjoy pre-recorded video resources, interacted with Exhibitors, joined in group prayer, and participated in several meetings and sessions. Topics of discussion have included anti-racism, ministerial connection and support, global service, Myanmar crisis, chaplaincy and specialized ministries, visions for the future of ABC, social action, and much more.

To assist registrants with this online format, daily briefings and their own personalized log-in path to the Virtual Attendee Hub are being emailed to each registrant, so that they can easily access all the things the Biennial Mission Summit has to offer. Helpful information can also be found here.

Registration remains open for those who have not yet registered at the event website,  www.americanbaptists2021.com.
