American Baptist Churches Encouraged to Observe February 6 as Pray and Act for Burma Sunday

VALLEY FORGE, PA (2/2/22)—American Baptist Churches USA and the Burma Refugee Commission call on congregations to observe Sunday, February 6 as “Pray and Act for Burma” Sunday. Pastors and church leaders are invited to visit the Burma Refugee Commission page on the ABCUSA website for resources, here: www.abc-usa.org/burma-refugee-commission.

Newly added to the webpage for “Pray and Act for Burma” Sunday, you will find a letter to pastors inviting them to participate; suggested prayer concerns to be lifted up during the worship service; sample prayers that may be used; and four actions that you can take for Burma.

The webpage also includes information about the history of the relationship between ABCUSA and Myanmar, previous Calls to Action, and worship and prayer resources shared over the past year since the February 1, 2021, military coup in Myanmar.

American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with approximately 5,000 congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
