ABHMS Invites American Baptists to Bring Comfort, Joy to Families in Need This Holiday Season

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 11/30/20)⸺On Giving Tuesday and throughout December, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) invites American Baptists to experience the joy of giving by contributing to its fundraising campaign “Tidings of Comfort and Joy.”

Based on Luke 2:10 (NIV)—“But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people’”—the campaign seeks to raise $50,000 by Dec. 31. Contributions will benefit ABHMS’ Community Outreach Ministries partners—27 ministries across the United States and Puerto Rico that meet the needs of children and families in their communities.

After months of struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic, racial unrest, job loss and economic despair, these organizations need help more than ever before. And while the world continues to experience great uncertainty, we find comfort this holiday season in both our faith in God’s love and in the joy of giving.

Your tax-deductible gift can do the following:

  • $25 will provide food for a family of four for a week, a weekly stipend for a teen to learn leadership and job-readiness skills, or provide a child with a math or reading workbook or a full day of academic services.
  • $50 will transport 25 children to the YMCA for swimming instruction and also provide masks, sanitizer, gloves, disinfectant spray and cleaner to keep a center in operation for a month.
  • $100 will provide children’s Bibles for 40 children as well as the technology needed to virtually tutor two children for a full year.

Experience the joy of giving by helping us to reach our goal of $50,000 by Dec. 31.

Donations may be made via your church or via credit card on the ABHMS website. If donating by check, please make it payable to American Baptist Home Mission Societies, write “ABHMS—Comfort & Joy” on the memo line and mail to:
