ABWM Partners with ABCNJ to Bring Christian Education and STEAM Program to Baptist Camp Lebanon

VALLEY FORGE, PA (3/4
/20)—American Baptist Women’s Ministries is partnering with American Baptist Churches of New Jersey to bring Hi-eSTEAM, a spiritual formation and STEAM program to middle school girls in NJ, PA and NY. The Hi-eSTEAM event will be held on April 18, 2020 at Baptist Camp Lebanon in Lebanon, NJ. ABWM and ABC-NJ are proud and excited to expose girls to the American Baptist heritage of the Christian camp experience. Since 1949, Camp Lebanon has provided youth with experiences for Christian growth, fun, friendships and memories that last a lifetime. Girls from local churches and organizations will explore   their spiritual development, curiosity about STEAM, and fellowship. Participants will spend the day being affirmed that they are created in God’s image while learning essential STEAM skills such as coding, robotics and visual art.

The esteemed keynote speaker for the day will be Dr. Aliya F. Browne, board-certified clinical cardiologist and spiritual director. ABWM Executive Director Rev. Gina Jacobs-Strain shared, “We are so excited to collaborate with ABC-NJ and to bring AB GIRLS and local STEAM providers to Camp Lebanon. The camp is a great space inside and outside for our event. Hi-eSTEAM will bring some girls to Camp Lebanon for the first time. Girls will connect with their peers from other ABC churches as they gain a deeper understanding of being made in God’s image and utilizing God’s creative energy. Moreover, our keynote speaker, Dr. Browne will provide an example of living your faith and engaging STEAM.”

Rev. Miriam Méndez, Executive Minister and Senior Regional Pastor of ABCNJ said, “Camp Lebanon has always been a place to experience God’s beautiful creation through nature. We are delighted to collaborate with the American Baptist Women’s Ministries and host the Hi-eSTEAM project at Camp Lebanon.  This is a wonderful opportunity for girls attending middle school to experience God’s beauty as well as being reminded that they are created in God’s image. We hope that as their minds are being strengthened through bible study, coding and robotics, that their hearts will be renewed and refreshed in the beautiful surroundings at Camp Lebanon.”
