ABWM Announces New Goal to Support Baptist Women’s Ministries of Puerto Rico

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 2/3/20)
—American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM) seeks to raise $10,000 by the end of February to support  Ministerios de Mujeres Bautistas de Puerto Rico (Baptist Women’s Ministries of Puerto Rico). In January, 6.4 and 5.9 magnitude earthquakes and subsequent tremors shook Puerto Rico leaving thousands of people homeless and in shelters. More than 2,000 people are displaced. The earthquakes in Puerto Rico on top of Hurricane Irma and Maria in 2017 have damaged parts of Puerto Rico’s infrastructure and access to basic provisions. Since the 2017 hurricanes, American Baptist Women’s Ministries collectively raised nearly $15,000 to support Ministerios de Mujeres Bautistas de Puerto Rico.

Rev. Gina Jacobs-Strain, ABWM’s executive director, shared, “We have reached out to our sisters and they have shared first-hand their stories of loss and anxiety. The needs are immediate. ABWM seeks to be helpful by raising $10,000. Please join us so that we can provide needed services and resources. Together we can make an impact again.”

Gifts are invited to the Women and Girls Mission Fund for this cause. Give online at www.abwomensministries.org/ABWMPuertoRico or send your contribution to American Baptist Women’s Ministries, 1075 First Ave STE C-210, King of Prussia, PA 19406. Checks should be payable to “Women and Girls Mission Fund” with “ABWM Puerto Rico” in the memo line. Muchas gracias! Dios te bendiga (God bless you).

Please continue to pray for all of our brothers and sister in Puerto Rico. Thank you for your support.

American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with approximately 5,000 congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
