VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 1/29/19)—ABCUSA Board of General Ministries President Josué Gómez-Menéndez sent a letter on behalf of the Board of General Ministries Executive Committee on January 29, giving an update on General Secretary Lee Spitzer’s return to the office. President Gómez-Menéndez said:
May the Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ remain with us in our journey, proclaiming the Kingdom of God and His righteousness in the midst of this time.
In September 2018, we received the unexpected health notice of our General Secretary, Dr. Lee Spitzer, encouraging us to make decisions that promote the well-being and continuity of work at our offices.
We, as a family, raised our prayers for our brother Lee and his recovery, so that he could be with us again as soon as possible. God is good. And He always takes care of us in His time.
After communicating with Dr. Spitzer, I am pleased to announce that our General Secretary will return to work on March 1, 2019. We hope that God gives him strength to keep leading this denomination into a new time.
We sincerely appreciate all the efforts, time and talents that God gives to Rev. Dr. Jeff Woods, who has served as our Acting General Secretary during this period and will continue to do so until Dr. Spitzer returns. Thank you Jeff, on behalf of our entire ABC family.
It is my hope that we can join and celebrate this period, where God showed us the richness and the diversity of our leaders, at our next Biennial Mission Summit in Virginia Beach, Va., next June 2019.
May the Lord be with us now and still leading our mission.
