Ministers Council Announces New “Member Services Coordinator” Position to Serve Members

WEST CHESTER, PA (ABNS 2/22/18)—The Ministers Council of American Baptist Churches USA is pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa K. Simpson to the position of Member Services Coordinator.

A Baptist for most of her life, Simpson has been American Baptist for nearly twenty years. She is a real estate professional and entrepreneur with background in the medical and insurance industries. Lisa brings strong leadership, business acumen, and relationship management skills. She and her husband, Rev. Perkin Simpson, are the proud parents of two wonderful young men; Christian, age 16, and Scotland, age 12. Lisa is currently a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, in Spring House, PA.

“I feel blessed to join the Ministers Council family and have the opportunity to assist clergy and other American Baptist leaders,” says Simpson. “I know how important this position is to the mission of the Ministers Council.” Simpson began in her new role on February 20, in conjunction with the meeting of the organization’s national Board of Governors in Philadelphia. “This new part-time position has been created to facilitate continued high-quality service of our membership in a time of overall reduced operational expenses,” says Board President Rev. Dr. Darla “Dee Dee” Turlington. “We will continue enriching our membership with resources and relationships which inspire and support ministerial excellence.”

The February meeting follows an eighteen-month period of visioning, surveys and discernment about new cost-effective models for the mission of the organization, now more than eighty years old. The part-time Members Services Coordinator will serve constituents and Board alike, as new volunteer-led models are created for collaborative programming, continued chapter support and advocacy within the denomination.

The Ministers Council is the only organization devoted exclusively to serving the wellbeing of American Baptist leaders, including the ordained, commissioned, licensed, lay professionals and seminarians. For more information, visit www.ministerscouncil.com or contact ministerscouncil@abc-usa.org.

American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with approximately 5,000 congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
