ABHMS’ ‘The Christian Citizen’ Marks One-Year Online Anniversary

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 12/11/17)—This month marks one year that The Christian Citizen—American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) acclaimed Christian witness print magazine—began publishing online, providing a 21st-century forum for American Baptists and other diverse voices to offer timely response to current events and contemporary issues in a format that’s fresh and easily accessible to readers.

Throughout the past year, thought-provoking online articles and action-inspiring essays that intersect faith, politics, discipleship and citizenship have examined a plethora of public-concern matters ranging from gun violence, racism, trauma and sexual violence to poverty, food insecurity, disabilities and immigration.

Encouraging dialogue and promoting healing, ABHMS responded to heightened tension, divisiveness, polarization, terrorism and violence across the United States with a special online edition of The Christian Citizen in September 2016. Three months later, the magazine began monthly publication online.
