ABHMS’ Monthly ‘Discipleship Matters’ Bulletin Inserts to Debut in January

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/10/17)—In response to requests for bulletin inserts aligned with American Baptist values, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) will debut in January 2018 its new “Discipleship Matters” fee-free monthly inserts for inclusion in church bulletins.

Covering a variety of subjects—including children, education, discipleship and family life—these practical, downloadable inserts are produced with black-and-white typeface and limited graphics for cost-effective, efficient and ecologically friendly printing and copying.

Based on a theme—such as nature’s seasons or highlights from the church calendar—each insert features brief, easily digestible articles, related scripture and other famous quotables, all presented in an interculturally sensitive manner. Topics include stewardship, meaningful rituals, the development of conscience, Christian family as Christian community, child-friendly faith formation, the inclusion of children and teens in church life, and the introduction of spiritual disciplines to children. References to ABHMS and Judson Press resources enhance further exploration on particular topics.

“I am excited about the launch of Discipleship Matters monthly bulletin inserts from ABHMS,” says the Rev. Dr. Cassandra Carkuff Williams, ABHMS director of Discipleship Ministries. “The inserts provide an opportunity for us to share practical guidelines, tips and resource suggestions around a wide range of topics in Christian formation. They also provide a venue for our partners to share ideas with one another. Anyone wishing to suggest a topic or share an activity or tip is encouraged to contact me at cassandra.williams@abhms.org.”
