American Baptist Women’s Ministries Announces Search for Executive Director

—The search for a dynamic leader to serve as Executive Director of American Baptist Women’s Ministries (ABWM) is now open. Located in Valley Forge, Pa., the Executive Director of ABWM will be responsible for providing and implementing a vision for the organization’s ministries with women and girls.

The Rev. Angel Sullivan, President of ABWM, says, “American Baptist Women’s Ministries is a powerful ministry led by Women and Girls from across the country with friendships with women from around the world. For the past 65 years, women in Lay and Professional Leadership have worked together in bringing awareness and responding to the issues and needs of women within Baptist and non-Baptist communities. We are looking for an Executive Director that will not just lead, but will lift up the gifts and strengths of all women from around the world by building, and empowering them to be change agents.”

ABWM, organized in 1951 and incorporated in 1996, is a Christ-centered ministry organization with a commitment to encourage and empower women and girls to serve God. Its national board of managers networks with region, association, and local ABWM units. ABWM is well-regarded for developing leaders for mission and ministry and providing vital partnership for vital ministries throughout the American Baptist denomination. ABWM is currently cultivating a more beloved community throughout ABWM by strengthening relationships among all American Baptist women, sharpening leaders’ cultural competency skills, removing unintended barriers to leadership opportunities, and providing programming relevant to its multicultural constituency. ABWM created its Women and Girls Mission Fund in 2011 to invite targeted support for its AB GIRLS ministry, Leadership Development initiatives, and to enlarge capacity for ABWM’s mission grants that bring healing and hope to women and girls worldwide.
