ABWM Announces AB GIRLS Participation in “Home Mission: ‘Til the Work Is Done”

VALLEY FORGE, PA (2/8/17)—American Baptist Women’s Ministries invites AB GIRLS to register and participate in the American Baptist Home Missionary Societies “Home Mission:’Til the Work Is Done,” July 29-August 5, 2017, in New Orleans, Louisiana. In addition to serving on work teams and worshiping with the gathered community, the national leadership team of AB GIRLS will be leading special fellowship opportunities for girls, and AB GIRLS will be leading one of the evening worship times for all volunteers.

“I am thankful for the partnership with American Baptist Home Mission Societies to provide an exciting opportunity for AB GIRLS to work side-by-side with New Orleans residents and American Baptist volunteers. This Home Mission work week will replace this year’s National Gathering for Girls sponsored by AB GIRLS/American Baptist Women’s Ministries,” notes Virginia Holmstrom, ABWM executive director. “The AB GIRLS national leadership team members are looking forward to greeting and getting acquainted with AB GIRLS groups that come to New Orleans to help rebuild homes demolished by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.”

Information and registration for “Home Mission: ‘Til the Work Is Done” is available on the American Baptist Home Missionary Society website at http://abhms.org/ministries/healing-communities/volunteer-ministries/until-the-work-is-done/. When registering, interested girls and their leaders should indicate “AB GIRLS” in the line about group name. Participants are expected to come with appropriate back-home leadership and supervision.
