The Audacity of Faith Contributors Will Reflect on Obama’s First Term

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/3/12)—Shortly after Barack Obama was named the 44th President of the United States, Judson Press invited some of the nation’s most prominent Christian leaders to share their thoughts on the historic election. Their sermons, reflections, and essays were published as The Audacity of Faith: Christian Leaders Reflect on the Election of Barack Obama. On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, eleven of the book’s contributors will participate in a virtual roundtable (online) to discuss the President’s first term in office.

Edited by Rev. Dr. Marvin McMickle, now president of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, contributors to The Audacity of Faith were asked to consider:

• Does a black man in the White House signify our arrival in the Promised Land or do we still have a long way to go in pursuit of liberty and justice for all?
• To what extent might Barack Obama’s election fulfill Martin Luther King’s dream?
• What words of prophetic challenge can we offer the president?

During this 90-minute webinar, participants will reflect on what they wrote four years ago and how they would respond to those questions today. Those joining the discussion are:

• Valerie Bridgeman
• Tony Campolo
• Valerie Elverton Dixon
• Wil Gafney
• Carolyn Ann Knight
• Joe Kutter
• Marvin McMickle
• Otis Moss III
• J. Alfred Smith
• Robin Smith
• Harold Dean Trulear

Moderating The Audacity of Faith Virtual Roundtable is the Rev. Betty Wright-Riggins. This free event will begin at noon, Eastern Time, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012 and is open to anyone who registers. Registration information can be found at https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/179838488.
