VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 3/7/12)—After a careful and prayerful search process, David L. Moore Jr. of Basking Ridge, N.J., has been named director of investments for American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS). Moore replaces Edward Evins who retired in December 2011 after 14 years of faithful service.

In his new role, Moore will provide oversight to all investment operations, including implementation of investment policies and guidelines for the Common Investment Fund, financial reporting and analysis, investment monitoring and technology platforms, and the execution of socially responsible investing guidelines. He will also optimize relationships with investment consultants, custodians and bankers; initiate appropriate strategies to enhance cash positions and ensure the availability of funds; and coordinate preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns as well as act as primary liaison to external auditors.

“Dave brings a diverse mix of experience, gifts, and strengths that will be a wonderful complement to our team,” says Michaele Birdsall, treasurer and chief financial officer. “We are delighted that he has accepted a call to serve with us at this pivotal time in our history.”

A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Moore was vice president, treasurer and chief investment officer at Aegis Insurance Services Inc., East Rutherford, N.J., where he served from 2001 to 2011. His accomplishments included the following: directing portfolio manager performance in line with the weighted style benchmark over one-, three-, five-, and 10-year periods; implementing a board-directed equity allocation reduction from 15 percent to 8 percent; improving risk management in several areas; and directing detailed and summary investment reporting for a variety of processes, including individual portfolio managers and the total portfolio’s asset allocation and investment strategy.

Before joining Aegis, he was director of Investment Management at AAA Michigan/Wisconsin (1993-2001) and vice president of Asset Liability Management at USF&G Insurance/Axe-Houghton Investment Management (1987-1993).

Moore holds an MBA in finance from Loyola University, Baltimore, and a bachelor’s degree from Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va. A member of the New York Society of Security Analysts, his professional development includes the CFA Institute and Harvard Advanced Investment Management.
