The Board of American Baptist Home Mission Societies
The mission statement “Encouraging Life in Christ” guides the work of the Board of American Baptist Home Mission Societies today as it remains committed to the three charter purposes of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies: preaching the gospel, establishing churches and ministering to persons of special needs. American Baptist Home Mission Societies develops programs for evangelism, discipleship training, church growth and renewal, social justice and facility planning.
Staffing for the new church development efforts of American Baptist Churches is provided by American Baptist Home Mission Societies, which also works to develop leadership for new churches. American Baptist Home Mission Societies responds to a wide variety of human needs through Christian centers, homes and hospitals, chaplaincy services and pastoral counseling, refugee resettlement and support for ethnic ministries.
