Joan Brown Campbell
Rev. Dr. Joan Brown Campbell most recently served as the Director of Religion at the historic New York Chautauqua Institution. Dr. Campbell was the first woman General Secretary of the National Council of Churches USA, and the first woman Director of the U.S. Office of the World Council of Churches. A devoted worker in the Civil Rights movement led by the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Rev. Campbell also worked with Nelson Mandela and Arch-bishop Desmond Tutu, who said of her, “Her voice helped to bring an end to the evil of apartheid.” Find out more here.
