
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 5/6/10)—Héctor M. González was elected to serve on the American Baptist Congregations of the Southwest and Hawaii (ABCOSH) Board of Directors on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at its annual business meeting. ABCOSH is affiliated with American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles.
González currently serves as the national Hispanic counselor in Mission Resource Development of the Office of the General Secretary of American Baptist Churches USA (ABCUSA). He served as president of ABCUSA from 1994-1995.
"Héctor has been a valuable asset to the Office of the General Secretary," said Leo S. Thorne, associate general secretary for Mission Resource Development. "He has served graciously and is especially committed to our Latino sisters and brothers. ABCOSH will benefit from his passion for Christ and his strong leadership skills. I am delighted that he has been given this opportunity to use his gifts as a member of the board of directors."
González is the national representative of the Christian Community Credit Union and has served on numerous Boards for American Baptist organizations: American Baptist Historical Society, American Baptist Seminary of the West, American Baptist Homes of the West, American Baptist Assembly/Green Lake Conference Center, and the Baptist World Alliance.
