ABHMS to Host Intercultural Ethnic Women Conference in July
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 5/23/18)—Female clergy, lay leaders and seminarians of diverse ethnicities are invited to attend American Baptist Home Mission Societies’ (ABHMS) Intercultural Ethnic Women Conference July 18-21 at Judson University, Elgin, Ill. Held in collaboration with American Baptist Women’s Ministries and Women in Ministry, the event will feature joint workshops and worship.
Providing time for sisterhood bonding, the event seeks to empower female leaders via leadership training; increase knowledge about ecumenical engagement and networking skills; increase awareness and ministry skills by building a support network; and create a cross-cultural mentoring program for women in ministry. Participants will learn to navigate the challenges of women in ministry; increase the use of church change strategies to positively impact women in ministry; increase networking, while cultivating mentors and emerging leaders; and increase knowledge about American Baptist Women’s Ministries and Women in Ministry.
Guest leader is the Rev. Dr. Zina Jacque, pastor of Community Church of Barrington, Ill. Music coordinator is Hornrette Washington, recording artist, choir director and minister of Music Emeritus at Antioch Baptist Church of Corona, N.Y.
Registration fee is $100. Continuing education grants are available to ordained clergy. Fee includes program, campus housing (two twin beds) and meals. Air travel and ground transportation are attendees’ responsibility.
Registration deadline is June 25.
