American Baptist Home Mission Societies Urges American Baptists to Stand with Refugees

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 3/19/18)—Concerned regarding the current global refugee crisis, American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) urges American Baptists to join in solidarity with and speak out on behalf of refugees.

According to ABHMS partner Church World Service (CWS), the current U.S. administration will resettle only 20,000 refugees this fiscal year—falling short of its own low refugee-admissions goal of 45,000. By March 31, says CWS, the administration will have resettled less than 10,000 refugees.

ABHMS stands with CWS in its effort to hold the administration accountable to resettle at least 45,000 refugees this year. In addition, ABHMS backs CWS’ call for the administration to set next year’s admissions goal at a minimum of 75,000.
