ABHMS to Celebrate New Mission Emphasis, Leadership with April 8 Service in D.C.
VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 3/2/16)—You’re invited to celebrate with American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) as we mark our new mission vision and the leadership of new Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray with a worship service and reception at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1500 Ninth St. NW, Washington, D.C.
Worship will feature Shiloh Baptist’s acclaimed music ministry, under the direction of Dr. Thomas Tyler.
Keynote preacher will be the Rev. Lauren Ng, ABHMS board member and trustee of Bacone College, Muskogee, Okla. Ng has served on American Baptist Women in Ministry’s advisory team and as associate pastor of First Chinese Baptist Church, San Francisco. Ordained in 2005, Ng is a graduate of American Baptist Seminary of the West, Berkeley, Calif., and Oberlin (Ohio) College.
“The Board of Directors of American Baptist Home Mission Societies is so excited by the opportunity to announce and lift up the new mission emphasis that Executive Director Dr. Jeffrey Haggray is bringing to this historic Baptist organization,” says the Rev. Dr. Clifford I. Johnson, president of ABHMS’ board. “It will be a special time for all members of the American Baptist family to gather in celebration of 192 years of mission in America and affirm our commitment to another 192 years, and more, of ministry focused on impacting churches, neighborhoods and communities across the country.”
