Judson Press Releases Practical Helps for Pastoral Care and Counseling Situations

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 3/16/15)—Many people at one time or another experience difficult times and seek the help of a pastor, chaplain or lay leader. Knowing how to respond to each situation is a matter of personal perspective and discernment. In The Pastoral Caregiver’s Casebook Series, noted clinical pastoral educator and chaplain, John J. Gleason, offers insightful pastoral encounters for personal reflection, pastoral application, and educational purposes.

The Pastoral Caregiver’s Casebook series is a collection of best practices and lessons learned from more than 300 actual ministry encounters and critical reflections by pastoral caregivers from across the nation. The four-volume series features cases dealing with aging, behavioral health, death, dementia, family issues, anger, and other everyday dilemmas and situations.

The complete series includes four volumes:

• Volume 1 features ministry encounters focused on relationships with self, others, and God.
• Volume 2 contains ministry encounters and reflections on crises—both physical and psycho‐spiritual.
• Volume 3 features ministry encounters dealing with behavioral and physical health matters
• Volume 4 explores pastoral care interactions and reflections in special settings: correctional facilities, clinical education encounters, single visits, and other unique situations.

Volumes 1 and 2 of the series are available now. Volumes 3 and 4 of the collection release in October 2015.

“I highly recommend this casebook, whose stories are relevant and realistic in content and context. The scope and diversity of represented pastoral care situations create a rich texture for personal self-reflection, pastoral application, and educational purposes.”—Rev. Greta A. Wagner, Director, Pastoral Care and CPE ACPE Supervisor
