Tijuana Prayer Vigil Invitation Extended

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 8/5/14)—American Baptist International Ministries missionaries Ray and Adalia Schellinger Gutierrez, along with ABCUSA General Secretary A. Roy Medley, have extended an invitation to all American Baptists and friends for a prayer vigil on the border in Tijuana, Mexico. The vigil is in response to the humanitarian crisis of unaccompanied minors fleeing violence and seeking refuge in the United States. It will take place on August 29, from 12:00pm until 2:00pm. 

The invitation states: 

We, American Baptist Missionaries in Baja México and Roy Medley, General Secretary, invite you to a prayer vigil on the border in response to the humanitarian crisis of unaccompanied minors fleeing violence and seeking refuge in the United States.

The vigil will take place August 29 from Noon until 2 at Friendship Park in Playas of Tijuana and will be preceded by a dialogue at Deborah’s House in Tijuana beginning at 9:30 AM.

We shall be joined by brothers and sisters from Mexico and Mr. Jim Winkler, general secretary and president of the National Council of Churches USA.
