Global Wave of Prayer to End Hunger
Did you miss it? There was a global wave of prayer on December 10, when people prayed at noon local time around the world for an end to hunger. American Baptist Churches USA encouraged American Baptists and friends to join the global wave of prayer at this time.
Several other groups, including the Cooperative Baptist Churches, the National Council of Churches of Christ, and the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), also encouraged their members to pray at noon on December 10. On that same day, a group of Catholic agencies launched a global campaign to end hunger.
As Bread for the World highlights, this global wave of prayer comes at a particularly critical time in our country. Congress will be finalizing a decision on the farm bill and the harmful cuts to nutrition programs that will impact millions of families that struggle to put a plate of food on the table. In addition to continuing to pray, you can still take action by calling (1-800-326-4941) or emailing your member of Congress. Tell Congress not to cut SNAP (formerly food stamps), rather, to take actions that will help end hunger in our country and around the world.
This powerful wave of prayer around the world will touch millions of hearts and brings an opportunity for us to move our nation to get serious about ending hunger and poverty.
