Prayers Requested Following Midwest Tornado Outbreak

Please keep the people of affected areas of the Midwest in your prayers, after a tornado outbreak wreacked havock on the area.

News from ABC of the Great Rivers Region:
All the regional staff are safe, and we have received no word of church facilities being damaged. However, we have received several reports of church families experiencing losses. ABMen Disaster Team leaders met with state officials in two locations on Monday morning for damage assessment and possible assignments. One Great Hour of Sharing funds are available for relief and rescue efforts. We will update you as we know more.  Thank you for your prayers,” said Dwight Stinnett, executive minister of American Baptist Churches of the Great Rivers Region.

News from ABC of Indiana/Kentucky:
“In American Baptist Churches of Indiana/Kentucky, all region staff, including camp managers, are safe, and there appears to be no damage to any of our region’s church buildings or pastors’ homes. A small storage building was leveled at Camp Tippecanoe, in northeast Indiana, and a few treetops were snapped. Indian Creek Camp and Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp in Westport IN (owned by several ABC associations) were unharmed. Pastors in heavily affected areas, especially Washington and Vincennes (southwest Indiana) and Lafayette and Kokomo (north central Indiana) are meeting with local leaders and are ready to provide assistance and care as needed. It will likely be a few days before we know exactly what kinds of assistance will be needed,” said Rev. Soozi Whitten Ford, executive minister, American Baptist Churches of Indiana & Kentucky.

The storm affected people across Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky and Michigan, killing 6 and leaving many others wounded and without power, according to news sources.
