Judson Press Author Featured at Book Festival in Seattle

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 7/19/13)—The Seattle University School of Theology and Ministry selected Marcia Patton, Executive Minister of the Evergreen Association of the American Baptist Churches USA and coauthor of the Judson Press title When the Spirit Moves: A Guide for Ministers in Transition, as a featured author at the sixth annual Search for Meaning Book Festival in Seattle, Washington, on Saturday, February 15, 2014.

From the sponsors at Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry: “We greatly admire your work, and our author selection committee believes you would make an important contribution to the various voices presenting this year. We would consider it an honor to host you during our Festival which attracts more than 2500 attendees every year.”

The Search for Meaning Book Festival creates an intentionally inclusive space for diverse authors to explore their thoughts on topics dealing broadly with the human quest for meaning, and the characteristics of an ethical and well-lived life. Patton is one of 45 authors scheduled to present and share their thoughts in 45-minute sessions, inviting attendees to engage with the authors’ books and themes.

Prior to her current appointment, Patton spent thirteen years as Associate Executive Minister with the American Baptist Churches of the Northwest, and served as associate minister for churches in Pennsylvania, Utah, and New Jersey. Dr. Patton serves on the transition team with American Baptist Churches USA, and as a delegate to the National Council of Churches General Assembly.

Founded in 1824, Judson Press—a publishing ministry of the American Baptist Home Mission Societies, American Baptist Churches USA—produces Christ-centered leadership resources for the transformation of persons, congregations, communities and cultures.

American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with over 5,200 local congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
