Laubach elected Chair of GLCC Board of Directors

GREEN LAKE, WI (ABNS 11/1/12)—Green Lake Conference Center (GLCC) is excited to announce that Rev. Dr. David C. Laubach of American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) was elected Chair of the GLCC Board of Directors. His appointment is effective January 1, 2013.

David currently serves as Associate Executive Director-Higher Education Ministries for ABHMS and has held various other positions with ABHMS for 26 years including Associate Executive Director-Strategic Missional Relationships. He has served on GLCC’s Board for different terms in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s.

Charles Dunning, Southern Baptist lay leader, was elected Vice Chair of the Board. Charles previously served as Vice Chair and was a core member of the vision team for the Center for Excellence in Congregational Leadership (CECLSM).

David and Charles bring rich experience to their new roles, both in connection to GLCC and to vital American Baptist and Southern Baptist ministries. Together they will help GLCC realize its mission to nurture and train leaders in both the American Baptist denomination and the wider Christian family.

Current Board Chair Tom Jones, said, “The opportunity to serve as Chair has been an amazing experience. We have an excellent CEO and strong management team, a committed and competent Board, and we are placed right in the middle of an amazing set of opportunities and challenges. David is well equipped to lead the Board through this next stage in its partnership with the management team. I couldn’t be more excited.”

David said, “With much appreciation for the confidence of the Board and for their commitment to the mission of GLCC, I look forward to this opportunity to serve. I pray my long experience within the American Baptist family and especially ABHMS will be an asset. I believe that the ABHMS vision to ‘minister as the caring heart, serving hands, going feet and prophetic voice of Jesus Christ” fits well with the American Baptist and multi-denominational equipping, renewal and networking ministries happening at GLCC.”
