ABHMS to Launch New Podcast Series

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/25/12)—Today American Baptist Home Mission Societies (ABHMS) launches its new weekly podcast series, “Faces and Places of Hope.” The debut marks two years since ABHMS reclaimed its historic name and is timed two days before the April 27 Founder’s Day, which celebrates 180 years since the establishment of The American Baptist Home Mission Society.

The series will offer good-news stories that showcase discipleship, community-building and social justice ministries across the United States and Puerto Rico.

Susan Gottshall, associate executive director of Communications for ABHMS, and Susan Gillies, retired executive minister of American Baptist Churches of Nebraska, will interview notable figures who discuss important contemporary ministries. Interviews will include:

  • Lucky Ray, president of American Baptist Men-USA, on the Arizona Hopi Mission Project;
  • The Rev. David Lundholm, retired associate executive minister of American Baptist Churches of Nebraska, on The Penny Project; and
  • Dr. Molly Marshall, president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary, on training leaders to engage in discipleship, community and justice.
