Christian Community Credit Union Donates $50,000 to International Ministries

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 4/2/12)—Christian Community Credit Union donated $50,000 to American Baptist International Ministries (IM). CCCU wishes to highlight missionaries and missions projects in Thailand and to support outreach programs to help women and children rescued from human trafficking; provide clean water, sanitation, and health resources; education and economic development, as well as pastoral and leadership training.

To date, Christian Community Credit Union’s “Cards that Give to Missions & Ministries” credit card program has given over $3 million to missions and ministry projects worldwide. The donation comes from a portion of the interchange income the Credit Union receives from fees merchants pay to card issuers. The amount is the second of three $50,000 donations the Credit Union committed to give to IM within three years.

“The partnership we share with Christian Community Credit Union enables us to accomplish more together for the cause of Christ,” says Ray Schooler, IM Director of Development-Church Relations. “Their support is making a huge difference in people’s lives around the world. Together, we are stronger and the results for the Kingdom are greater!”

“Supporting IM allowed us to live out the credit union movement’s philosophy of ‘people helping people,’” states Dr. John T. Walling, Christian Community Credit Union President/CEO.

“Our members are helping change lives economically, socially and spiritually every time they use their credit or debit card for purchases. That’s what makes our cards so unique!”

The Credit Union also partnered with IM to offer the International Ministries Platinum Rewards Visa. For every new IM credit card approved, Christian Community Credit Union donates $50 to support IM’s global missions work. In addition, the Credit Union makes additional donations on everyday purchases using the IM card—at no cost to the cardholder. With assets over $520 million, Christian Community Credit Union serves more than 29,000 members nationwide and around the world. The Credit Union has served the financial needs of Christian ministries, churches and their members for over 55 years.
American Baptist Churches USA is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with 5,500 local congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
