Simpson Begins Role as Executive Director of American Baptist Foundation

VALLEY FORGE, PA (ABNS 10/28/11)—The board of the American Baptist Foundation has extended a call to Rev. Perkin F. Simpson to serve as Executive Director of the Foundation. Simpson officially began in this new position on October 15, 2011. During October, Bill Carlsen, Interim Director, has been working with Simpson during a brief period of transition; on November 1, Carlsen will step aside from his Interim Director role and become the Chair of the AB Foundation Board.

”Perkin has shown tremendous leadership during this interim time and we all look forward to providing greater resources from the Foundation to our ABC family,” said Debra Schill, Interim Board Chair.

Simpson began his ministry with American Baptist Foundation in February of 2008, and has been serving as Vice President of Finance. His leadership and skills have moved the Foundation toward greater ministry during this time. Simpson is a graduate of the University of Connecticut, and received a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2003. He holds over 13 years of investment experience working with firms such as UBS, Prudential Financial and The Hartford Insurance Company. Simpson has held numerous financial and insurance related designations, including a Series 7, 66 (65&63), Property and Casualty, and Life & Health producers licenses. He has received numerous awards throughout his professional career.

“American Baptist Foundation has faithfully supported the ministries of our partners in Christ for over twenty-five years,” said Simpson. “As we look to the future, Proverbs 16:3 reminds us to ‘ask the LORD to bless [our] plans, and [we] will be successful in carrying them out.’ I am honored to serve in the capacity of Executive Director for the Foundation and I willingly embrace our vision of Connecting People Who Care to Ministries that Matter.”
American Baptist Churches is one of the most diverse Christian denominations today, with 5,500 local congregations comprised of 1.3 million members, across the United States and Puerto Rico, all engaged in God’s mission around the world.
